Role Overview 
The Regional Manager is responsible for the financial success and operational excellence of Garden Variety Dispensaries in the Manitoba and Saskatchewan regions. The Manager is responsible for directing all retail operations and staff, providing leadership and managing the department with a focus on managing growth and increasing profitability. The Regional Manager works in cross-functional partnership with many departments within Garden Variety to elevate the customer experience and evolve the retail program of all Garden Variety Stores in accordance to remain competitive and innovative in the marketplace. 

Duties and Responsibilities 
Under the supervision of the CEO, the duties and responsibilities of the Regional Manager include, but are not limited to, the following: 
Accomplishes regional sales human resource objectives by recruiting, selecting, orienting, training, assigning, scheduling, coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees in assigned districts; communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, appraising, and reviewing job contributions; planning and reviewing compensation actions; enforcing policies and procedures;
Achieves regional sales operational objectives by contributing regional sales information and recommendations to strategic plans and reviews; preparing and completing action plans; implementing productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; resolving problems; completing audits; identifying trends; determining regional sales system improvements; implementing change;
Meets regional sales financial objectives including full P&L responsibility by forecasting requirements; preparing an annual budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions;
Establishes sales objectives by creating a sales plan and quota for districts in support of company objectives;
Maintains and expands customer base by counseling district sales representatives; building and maintaining rapport with key customers; identifying new customer opportunities;
Recommends product lines by identifying new product opportunities, and/or product, packaging, and service changes; surveying consumer needs and trends; tracking competitors;
Implements trade promotions by publishing, tracking, and evaluating trade spending;
Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks;
Manages and directs the retail department operations to achieve department and company goals;
Acts as a thought leader and subject matter expert on both cannabis industry and general retail industry trends; 
Implements general policies established by the Executive Team; directs their administration and execution;
Directs, through Store Managers and staff, the ongoing development of retail operations within the scope of the company’s mission and vision.
Develops and executes overall operational guidelines for all stores and is responsible for ensuring stores are maintaining approved standardized operating procedures;•Identifies opportunities to increase per transaction profitability;
Creates and implements monthly tracking of each store’s progress on region-specific reports to Executive Team;
Identifies target and focus stores for improvement plan efforts and any necessary changes to be implemented based upon store performance issues;
Identifies opportunities for staffing/scheduling/task efficiencies;
Collaborates with Store Managers to improve retail operating practices by way of refining standard operating procedures and implementation;
Analyzes sales data to connect marketing efforts with sales performance, making recommendations for changes in promotions where needed based on sales performance;
Directs all New Store Openings to Garden Variety’s retail standards;
Creates and fosters a positive, collaborative environment and attitude toward retail operations and all departments in Garden Variety;
Supports succession planning and organizational design for the retail department; and
Works with VP of Retail, VP of Finance and HR to determine and manage budget for retail department focused on achieving bi-annual goals and business strategy.

Skills and Effort Requirements 
Interpersonal Skills: This role interacts with internal and external customers. A high degree of personability, conscientiousness, and ability to handle difficult situations is required. 
Analytical Skills: This role is required to analyze sales data across multiple regions, develop budgets, and synthesize a structure of informational and pragmatic reporting. 
Physical Skills: This role requires the ability to lift and move boxes full with product (up to 30 lbs) within a retail setting. This roles also requires the ability to setup displays at various locations. 
Mental Effort: This role requires the Regional Manager to be organized, manage multiple priorities, problem solve, have ability to retain information for details and changes, have a high attention to detail and ability to focus, and communicate to team members. This role requires the Regional Manager to act as a thought leader and subject matter expert to understand product logistics and priorities. 
Minimum Requirements 
Minimum ten (10) years’ experience in Retail Management, Cannabis industryexperience is considered an asset;
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal;
Working experience as a strategic and considerate thinker with a talent foroperations/systems and personnel management;
Ability to work collaboratively with teams and independently, when required;
Full Driver’s Licence and access to a vehicle.

Working Conditions 
This role works out of a multi-unit retail store setting. This role requires use of larger muscle groups (standing, bending, lifting, twisting) to manage products and supplies. This role requires daily attention to multiple priorities and competing demands with minimal supervision. This role may be required to work outside standard business hours. Due to the growing nature of the position and the organization, this role may be required to perform tasks not specifically identified in the duties and responsibilities. 

This role will require travel, greater than 50%, to various locations in Winnipeg, Manitoba, and surrounding provinces.
