Lead and direct the freight operations, business development, commercial activity, and oversee all efficient logistics operations.
Main roles and responsibilities:
Lead the Freight Department strategically to maintain the company’s short and long-term growth.
Provide department direction and policy determination for all freight activities and deal with specialized freight problems as they relate to the region, customer, local government, service providers, and unexpected issues.
Provide high level strategic planning and execution to enhance profitability, productivity and efficiency throughout the company’s freight operations.
Provide employee feedback and coaching as needed to achieve the required standards/compliance.
Interact regularly with the top management and individual department heads to ensure that the departmental objectives are aligned with the company’s direction.
Liaise with other relevant functions/areas to provide information and gain support to actions needed.
Provide accurate and timely feedback to the CEO including recommending specific actions to achieve/exceed the freight targets.
Identify training needs for the team by analyzing performance results and reviewing the performance of the team against key service indicators.
Support the growth and retention of business by working with the Commercial Division to achieve strategic service and revenue objectives.
Develop and maintain an in depth knowledge of the business (system, operations, people, and financial processes etc.) and of the macro business environment (customer, economic, competitor, social, legislative etc.).
