ABOUT THE ROLE The Human Resources Director is responsible for creating, leading and supporting full-cycle HR strategies and initiatives within the BC and SK regions. This position is accountable for providing timely HR direction, guidance and coaching to our managers while ensuring all HR directives are aligned with the overall business strategy and the organization’s culture and values. This includes providing day-to-day support of the HR activities in the following areas: recruitment and on-boarding, employee and labour relations, performance management, employee engagement, training and development, compensation and benefits, Health and Safety and HR analytics and process improvement. Talent Management and Recruitment Manages the implementation of HR strategy to assure appropriate employee resources are available to achieve planned results. Works with line managers to identify organizational issues that impact the attainment of business objectives. Ensuring we have the right people, in the right roles, with the right competencies in place. Manages the recruitment function by developing engaging job postings, screening and sourcing applicants and assisting Hiring Managers with interviews, as required. Actively involved in all Management level recruiting activities. Oversees the new hire administrative process including on-boarding. Employee and Labour Relations Act as a primary contact for day-to-day HR employee issues including: advising management on employee and labour relations issues, overseeing or conducting investigations, creating and interpreting corporate policies and procedures including the Employee Handbook, providing disciplinary letters/actions and supporting employee concerns. This includes ensuring legal compliance with all regional and national legislative requirements. Involved with grievance management, collective bargaining, employment and labour policy development and labour strategy. Works with the Executive and legal counsel to resolve any litigation or legal issues. Performance Management, Training and Development Coordinates the performance management process which includes objectives setting, individual development plans, mid-year reviews and annual performance appraisals. Works with management in addressing performance issues and provides consultative support as required. This may include assisting managers with the development of performance improvement plans. Facilitate and coordinate training and development programs, as required. Compensation and Benefits Coordinates the day-to-day administration of the compensation and benefit programs to ensure they are aligned with business objectives. Must understand the local market conditions and ensure fair and equitable pay practices. Health and Safety Understands the safety objectives of the organization and supports these efforts in a visible manner. Participates in and supports the business Health & Safety committees or improvement teams. Drafts appropriate Health & Safety documentation including Safety Manual and Hazard Assessments. Works with Managers to ensure a clear WorksafeBC escalation process is communicated and executed for all Health & Safety incidents. Supports and conducts all workplace injury and accidents. Coordination of all legally required training (WHMIS, Violence/Harassment, OH&S) HR Analytics and Project Management Works collaboratively with other Regional HR Managers on assigned projects. Provides key analytics and information on area of responsibility to support business objectives and monthly reports. Preference will be given to those candidates with a post-secondary degree in Human Resources and a minimum of 10+ years of HR Management experience in a retail or corporate environment.
