We are actively looking for an experienced Human Resources Director to join our dynamic team. 

Reporting to the General Manager, the Human Resources Director oversees all the HR operations including Labour relations, Payroll, Benefits and Pension plans. The Director works closely with the department leads and the General Manager to develop strategic, short and long term plans and provides leadership and expertise in advancing the HR strategy for the development and implementation of new initiatives in support of AJWT’s mission.
The ideal candidate will be a hands on team player, proactive, self-driven, and innovative. He will also be decisive, results oriented, adaptable to change and capable of building strong relationships with the union and across the company. This candidate will build trust within the management team, and credibility within the organisation.
 
Principal responsibilities

Plan, organise and manage all activities under the scope of the Human Resources, Labour Relations, Payroll, Benefits and Pension;
 Act as HR senior advisor and member of the management committee providing guidance to management in employee related issues;
Review all disciplinary files, recommend appropriate action and ensure the respect of applicable internal procedures and guidelines;
Oversee the management and contract renewal of the group insurance plan;
Responsible for full cycle of recruitment and selection of personnel for the organisation;

In collaboration with the H&S Committee, manage overall health and safety, make recommendations and determine appropriate initiatives;
Develop, update and implement human resources policies, procedures and initiatives;
Manage employee annual performance review process, salary review and bonus program;
Responsible for job evaluation process to establishing salary bans and ensure that all roles are competitive within market;
Partners with department managers on training initiatives with follow through from development to successful implementation designed to assist in departmental development and succession planning;
Oversees the coordination of all CNESST claims /advises on short & long term disability claims;
Develop internal communications to employees with the assistance of department heads.
Acts as company representative on legal matters including: grievances, mediations, arbitrations and complaints;
Help resolution of employee related concerns and lead investigations in a manner that respects all concerned and communicate recommendations and results;
Member of management committee providing projected initiatives, structured annual plan and updates of ongoing projects and relevant KPI’s;
All other duties as required
 
 
Desired Skills and Experience:
University degree in human resources, labour relations or in a related field, equivalent work experience will be considered;
Certified Human Resources Professional designation will be considered an asset (CRIA or CRHA);
Minimum of 10 years of relevant progressive work experience including at least 5 years in a management role;
Demonstrated experience in labour and employee relations (negotiations of collective agreement, managing grievances and arbitrations, etc) Extensive knowledge of labour laws particularly Canada Labour Code ;
Proven leadership and decision-making skills as well as being well organized and detail oriented;
Excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as an ability to communicate verbally and in writing in two official languages; English and French;
Working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite.
Ability to work and act independently using good judgment when assessing difficult situations 
Ability to accurately listen, understand and respond appropriately
Demonstrate a high degree of integrity, diplomacy, discretion and confidentiality
Possess analytical skills and attention to detail
